New Stirling Whisky Shop Opens for Business
Whisky fans will be toasting the opening of a new specialist whisky shop in Stirling’s historic Old Town.
Based in the iconic Highland Hotel on Spittal Street, the shop is owned and run by Cameron McCann, one of the partners in the popular Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival.
Cameron said,
“I’ve always been surprised that Stirling didn’t have a whisky shop as there are a number of distilleries right on our doorstep. This, together with the appeal that Stirling has for visitors, gave me the inspiration to open the Stirling Whisky Shop. So Stirling now has what every City needs – a specialist whisky shop.
“I was delighted when the Highland Hotel approached me with a suggestion to base the shop in some vacant space that they had available. Not only are we able to offer something to hotel guests, but the shop opens up right onto Spittal Street meaning that we have an on-street presence accessible to all.
“We stock the largest selection of Scotch Whiskies in Stirling, alongside a range of other spirits and drinks including wine, gin, vodka, and craft beers. We are convinced that we will have something for all price ranges and tastes.
“We are offering daily in store whisky tastings, and we are able to offer advice and help to those who may be looking for a gift for a whisky lover, but are not sure who to ask. We can also help with whisky investment advice for collectors or people who may be interested in starting a collection of their own.
“Working alongside me in the shop I have Fiona and Malcolm; Fiona was formerly a distillery visitor centre manager, whilst Malcolm is a Keeper of the Quaich, which is an honour bestowed on those who have given service to the whisky industry. Our collective knowledge should be able to help answer any whisky questions that anyone may have.
“Stirling is starting to gain a strong reputation for whisky. The Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival held in May is a regular feature in the whisky calendar and tickets sell-out well in advance each year. The two monthly whisky clubs that we run in Stirling and Drymen are very popular as well. The addition of our new shop adds to the growing reputation of Stirling as a top whisky destination.”
The new Stirling Whisky Shop can be found in the Stirling Highland Hotel and can be accessed from Spittal Street. The shop is open from 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday and from 11am – 4pm on Sundays.
